The technical team in the School of Engineering and Digital Arts were pleased to have raised during Christmas £180 for the charity Holding On Letting Go. This year the team decided to offer the electronic Christmas tree kits to students and staff in return for donations to the charity.
Holding On Letting Go is a Kent-based charity that helps children to cope with the death of someone close to them. Caroline Ford, CEO thanked the team saying, “Thank you so much for your donation of £180 to Holding On Letting Go from the sale of Christmas Tree kits to students at the University. What a great idea! They look fun. Thanks to our supporters’ generosity in 2019 we have been able to hold 11 bereavement support weekends, 3 one-day programmes and one event for families bereaved through stillbirth or neonatal death”
The tree kits were open to everyone in the School and comprised of a set of components which students and staff then had to use their practical electronic skills to build. Not only was this great way to raise money for charity and a bit of festive fun but also a good opportunity for students to practice their electronic skills.
