Congratulations to Saber Mirzaee Bafti, PhD Electronic Engineering candidate studying in the School of Engineering and Digital Arts, who reached the finals of the IET’s Vision and Imaging Technical Network competition (part of the 9th International Conference On Imaging For Crime Detection And Prevention, ICDP-19) for his submission entitled: ‘Crowdsourcing Object Detection and Segmentation in Medical Images’.
The submission is below:
Biomedical image processing is one of the most important applications of computer vision, although limited number of annotated dataset for model training remains a significant challenge. In this study, we aim to develop an integrated biomedical images processing platform with the ability to crowdsourcing new data for continual training in conjunction with the image processing algorithm through a user-friendly App.
Organised by the University of Westminster and the IET’s Vision and Imaging Technical Network, each submission was judged on the basis of technical excellence, value of the work to the wider community and public benefit, implementation of the idea and business potential.
