Congratulations to Professor Yong Yan, Dr Lijuan Wang and Simon Barnes upon successful funding from SEPA and the Scottish Enterprise Can Do Innovation Challenge Fund

Congratulations to Professor Yong Yan (principal investigator) together with Dr Lijuan Wang (co-investigator) from the School of Engineering and Digital Arts and Simon Barnes (co-investigator) from Kent Innovation and Enterprise upon their successful funding award from the Scottish Enterprise Can Do Innovation Challenge Fund and The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) for a project entitled ‘Quality identification of bales of transported waste plastic’.

The project aims to develop a tool to enable stakeholders in the plastic waste industry, including SEPA, to assess efficiently and effectively the quality of plastic transported for recycling and to discourage any activities that result in environmental harm. The outcome arising from this project is expected to support the waste management industry in the UK and the rest of the world.
