Staff, students and special guests from School of Engineering and Digital Arts continued the tradition of celebrating the Chinese New Year with a buffet of splendid Chinese food, festive decorations and entertainment in the social area of the Jennison Building on the evening of Friday 24th January 2020 (Chinese New Year’s Eve).
Hosted by PhD students, Faisal Abbas and Michael Liao, the celebrations included an entertaining presentation by Dr Yijin Pan, Newton International Fellow, about the Year of the Rat and a short programme of musical entertainment performed by researchers and academic staff from EDA. A video clip of the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, taking part in the traditional lion dance and eye dotting ceremony was also played at the party.
Professor Farzin Deravi and Professor Yong Yan delivered concluding remarks, giving their best wishes for the Chinese New Year and thanking the organisers of the event. The evening was rounded off with a range of board games.
