Congratulations to Dr Jim Ang upon collaborative EU Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant ‘Artificial Intelligence for the Deaf’

Congratulations to Dr Jim Ang, Senior Lecturer in Multimedia/Digital Systems with the School of Engineering and Digital Arts upon the receipt of an EU Marie Sklodowska-Curie, Research and Innovation Staff Exchanges (RISE) grant for the project ‘Artificial Intelligence for the Deaf‘ which aims to pursue cross-disciplinary breakthrough innovation to offer a comprehensive suite of solutions catering to deaf peoples’ communications needs. This is achieved through creating multi-modal, high-accuracy deep learning models for deaf/hearing people for interactive communication.

The project involves partners from 6 countries including the University of Kent, Cyprus University of Technology, European Union of the Deaf and Georgia Tech.

The overall project total is € 1.7 million.
