EDA celebrates the Year of the Pig 2019

Staff, students and special guests from the School of Engineering and Digital Arts continued the tradition of celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year with a buffet of Chinese food, festive decorations and entertainment in the Sibson Atrium on Friday evening, 8th February 2019.

Hosted by Miss Xiqi Yang and Mr Yiwei Fang, both 3+1 undergraduate students, the party started with a buffet of a wide variety of delicious Chinese dishes either home-cooked by EDA staff or students or from a restaurant. The festivities continued with an entertaining presentation by Miss Xiqi Yang about the Year of the Pig, including a video clip of the speech by the Prime Minister, Theresa May, on the Year of the Pig. The celebrations also included a programme of musical entertainment performed by both students and academic staff from EDA. An interactive game called “mannequin challenge” which took place during the last part of the musical performances was the highlight of the party.

Professor Farzin Deravi and Professor Yong Yan gave concluding remarks, with their best wishes for the New Year and thanks to the organisers and performers, including special thanks to Miss Li Zhao, Lecturer in Actuarial Science from SMSAS, for booking the stunning venue. The evening was rounded off with board games.
