Congratulations to Professor Steven Gao from the School of Engineering and Digital Arts upon the receipt of research funding from industry totalling £300,000 which will investigate smart antennas for 5G and future generations of mobile communications. Smart antenna is the key technology for 5G mobile communications and next-generation satellite communication, inter-satellite networks and intelligent radar systems. It can significantly increase the capacity while reducing the interferences and power consumption of future wireless systems. Professor Gao said “EDA is internationally recognised for its research on antennas and RF/microwave technology. This research grant will help us build close collaborations with industries and further develop our research on new generations of smart antennas.”
