Supporting the launch of the Year of Engineering 2018, Iulia Motoc, Engineering Ambassdor of the Year and PhD candidate, discusses the portrayal of engineering

To support the launch of the Year of Engineering, Iulia Motoc, Engineering Ambassador of the Year and PhD candidate in the School of Engineering and Digital Arts, discusses the portrayal of engineering and how to influence the next generation’s interest in an interview with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), here.

The Year of Engineering is a government campaign, which celebrates the world and wonder of engineering. From spaceships to ice skates, the bubbles in chocolate bars to life saving cancer treatment, engineering touches every part of our lives. However, not enough young people – especially young girls – think it’s a world for them. As a result, the industry is struggling to recruit future talent. What’s more, young people are missing out on the chance to make a positive difference to both their futures, that of the planet and everything that calls it home.

More information about the Year of Engineering can be located at the Government’s website here and on the Year of Engineering partner website here.
