Research Seminar – Modelling and Experimental Investigation of Gas-Solid Flows in Fluidized Beds with Different Scales – 7 July at 11 am in JLT

The next Research Seminar in EDA entitled ‘Modelling and Experimental Investigation of Gas-Solid Flows in Fluidized Beds with Different Scales’ takes place on Friday 7th July from 11 am until 12 noon in Jennison Lecture Theatre and will be delivered by Professor Haigang Wang from the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China.

The Seminar will focus on Circulating fluidized bed (CFB), one kind of clean coal combustion technologies which plays an important role in the power generation and coal gasification industry. Large thermal capacity and high steam pressure is a tendency for the development of CFB boilers. To meet the demands for high steam parameter and large thermal capacity, high efficiency of gas-solid separation is a key to achieving high combustion efficiency, reducing limestone consumption and NOx emission.

Professor Haigang Wang is a Professor at the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. His specialty is in the areas of CFD simulation, mathematical modelling, and Process Tomography for multi-phase flows measurement, e.g. gas-solids circulating fluidised beds in the power industry, and fluidised bed coating, granulation and drying in the pharmaceutical industry. He has published more than 40 peer reviewed international journal papers, more than 50 international conference papers and granted an international patent.

The seminar will be chaired by Professor Yong Yan. All members of staff are welcome to attend, and RA’s and postgraduate students are particularly encouraged to attend.
