Supporting World AIDS Day – December 2016

As part of EDA’s continued commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity, the School supported World AIDS Day on 1 December 2016.

World AIDS Day is held on the 1st December each year and is an opportunity for people to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for those living with and to commemorate those who have died. This event was the first ever global health day and has been held annually since 1988.

The red ribbon is the universal symbol of awareness and support and was conceived by a group of 12 artists. It was the first ever ribbon symbol and went on to inspire later versions such as the pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness.

Thanks to donations for red ribbons and the purchase of cake, the EDA community raised £20.73 for the National AIDS Trust.
