Research Seminar – ‘A Novel Dual-broadband, Dual-polarized Antenna for 2G/3G/LTE Base Stations’ – 22 August at 11 am in JLT

The next EDA Research Seminar entitled ‘A Novel Dual-broadband, Dual-polarized Antenna for 2G/3G/LTE Base Stations’ will be delivered by Professor Ying Liu of Xidian University, China and will take place on Monday 22nd August from 11 am to 12 noon in Jennison Lecture Theatre.

The presentation will focus on wideband base station antennas which are developing rapidly. A novel dual-broadband, dual-polarized antenna is proposed for 2G/3G/LTE mobile communication base station applications. The antenna comprises of a lower-band element and an upper-band element which are separated by a ring-shaped baffle. The proposed antenna and its array can be used for multiband base stations in next generation communication systems.

Professor Ying Liu received her MSc and PhD degree in electromagnetics from Xidian University, Xi’an, China, in 2001 and 2004 respectively. From 2006 to 2007, she carried on postdoctoral research in Hanyang University in Seoul Korea. She is currently a full Professor in the National Key Laboratory of Antennas and Microwave Technology, Xidian University, Xi’an, China.

All members of staff are welcome to the seminar. RAs, postgraduates (PhD candidates and MSc students), and interested undergraduate students are particularly encouraged to attend the event. For further enquiries, please feel free to contact Professor Steven Gao (s.gao@kent.ac.uk).
