Fostering strategic international partnerships and collaboration

The School of Engineering and Digital Arts (EDA) provides a well-resourced research environment with a notable profile which encourages international collaboration and partnerships across disciplines, departments, organisations, regions, countries and continents.

Our research activities are focused on three areas to reflect today’s key challenges: Communications, Instrumentation, Control and Embedded Systems, and Intelligent Interactions.

In recent years EDA has developed strategic international partnerships with varied global institutions and organisations. These include North China Electric Power University, Tianjin University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xidian University, Southeast University, Shanghai Maritime University, Zhejiang University, China, Cochin University, India, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California, USA, University of Auckland, New Zealand, and has further fostered collaborative activities in Austria, Belgium, Brazil, France, Italy and Japan. Such international partnerships have led to the publication of many high-impact research papers in leading journals and the award of a number of prestigious prizes and recognitions by learned societies and professional organisations. Our joint teaching and research exchange programmes have produced highly qualified engineers who are making significant contributions in various sectors across the globe.

EDA appreciates that globalisation encompasses cultural awareness, social responsibility and the ability to act in a swiftly changing multicultural environment and is fully equipped to face the challenges of the 21st century and the knowledge society.
