Research Seminar – ‘Understanding how robotic surgery impacts teamwork and decision making in the operating theatre: a realist evaluation” – 5 February at 2 pm in JLT

The next EDA Research Seminar entitled ‘Understanding how robotic surgery impacts teamwork and decision making in the operating theatre: a realist evaluation’ will be delivered by Dr Rebecca Randell from the School of Healthcare, University of Leeds on Friday 5th February at 2 pm in Jennison Lecture Theatre.

Dr Rebecca Randell has a degree in Software Engineering from the University of Durham and a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Glasgow. Rebecca’s research is concerned with understanding how healthcare professionals carry out their work in order to inform the design of healthcare technology and with understanding how healthcare technologies are used in practice. She is currently leading a project funded by the National Institute for Health Research’s Health Services & Delivery Research programme, using realist evaluation to understand how robotic surgery gets integrated into routine practice and its impacts on teamwork and decision making in the operating theatre.

In 2004, Rebecca was awarded the Diana E. Forsythe Award by the American Medical Informatics Association for research at the intersection of informatics and the social sciences. She is Chair of the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI) Human and Organizational Factors of Medical Informatics Working Group.

All members of academic, technical and administrative staff are welcome to the seminar. RAs and postgraduates (PhD candidates and MSc students) are particularly encouraged to attend the event. For any further enquiries, please feel free to contact Dr Jim (CS) Ang (C.S.Ang@kent.ac.uk).
