On Tuesday 3rd February, a joint Kent Physics Centre and School of Engineering and Digital Arts 50th Anniversary Lecture took place, featuring Dr Frances Saunders, President of the Institute of Physics. Dr Saunders delivered a most informative lecture on ‘Research and Innovation – the challenge of translating research results into economic impact’. The lecture set out her experiences in addressing this challenge and managing a large MoD laboratory, reviewed some recent initiatives and discussed research, enterprise and financial wealth generation.
Dr Saunders was the former Director of the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory at Porton Down.
