Research Seminar – Low Loss 67-GHz Coplanar Waveguides and Spiral Inductors on 100 kOhm-cm Gold-doped High Resistivity Cz-Silicon – 10:00 am on 2nd February in JLT

The next EDA Research Seminar entitled ‘Low Loss 67-GHz Coplanar Waveguides and Spiral Inductors on 100 kOhm-cm Gold-doped High Resistivity Cz-Silicon’ will take place at 10 am on Monday 2nd February 2015 in Jennison Lecture Theatre in the School of Engineering and Digital Arts. It will be delivered by Professor C.H. Kees de Groot from the University of Southampton who will present some recent results of circuits, devices and materials for millimetre-wave wireless systems from the University of Southampton.

C.H. (Kees) de Groot received a Master’s degree in Physics in 1994 from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, and a Ph.D. degree in 1998 from the University of Amsterdam for research carried out at the Philips Research laboratories in Eindhoven. Subsequently, he was a Research Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, where he conducted research on spin tunnel junction and phase change materials.

Since 2000, Professor de Groot has worked at the University of Southampton. His research interests range from electronic materials, nano devices, to circuits applications, with a focus of integration of Nanotechnology with Si device processing. He is an author of over 80 journal publications and a number of patents.

All members of academic, technical and administrative staff are welcome to the seminar. RAs and postgraduates (PhD candidates and MSc students) are particularly encouraged to attend the event. For any further enquiries, please contact Professor Steven Gao (S.Gao@kent.ac.uk), who will also chair the Seminar.
