Innovate UK have awarded a grant of £283,688 for the Authenticated-Self project which is a joint development programme led by Evidentia Ltd in conjunction with Dr John Batchelor in the University of Kent’s School of Engineering and Digital Arts and Dr Julio Hernandez-Castro in the School of Computing. The objective of the project is to create resilience and security in mobile devices by combining three functions, specific Near Field Communication based hardware, a mobile handset/tablet software app, and a secure data exchange platform. The system would allow access to networks by increasing the security of secure Self-Authentication, including a process of continuous authentication using ultra-thin RFID tokens.
The project will involve developing Secret Sharing protocols, distance bounded NFC tokens and Lightweight Cryptography algorithms into a complete product suite.
