Congratulations to Christos upon his successful application for funding from the Faculty of Sciences Research Funding Application Scheme (Tranche 1) which will enable him to Co-Chair the first International Workshop on Sensing Systems and Applications Using Wrist Worn Smart Devices (WristSense), sponsored by Samsung Electronics. The workshop will take place in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, from 23 – 27 March 2015, in conjunction with the IEEE PerCom conference, the premier annual scholarly venue in the areas of pervasive computing and communications.
Christos was offered the position of Co-Chair for the WristSense workshop in recognition of his latest research work in wearable sensing and mobile sensing technologies (https://sites.google.com/site/wristsenseworkshop2015/organizers).
The main goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners to share innovative ideas, discuss challenges, and brainstorm potential solutions to open research problems related to the domain of wrist worn smart devices. The program committee of the workshop consists of leading researchers from acclaimed institutions such as the University of Cambridge, ETH Zurich, Microsoft Research, Yahoo Labs and Samsung Research.
