EDA promotes science and technology at Discovery Park

Staff and students from the School of Engineering and Digital Arts (EDA), together with representatives from the School of Physical Sciences (SPS), exhibited at the ‘Big Bang near me’ event at Discovery Park, Sandwich, Kent on Tuesday 10 December 2013.

Hosted by Education Business Partnership Kent (EBP), the event attracted over 400 students from schools across Kent with the aim of engaging and encouraging children to consider science. It was the first Big Bang near me event to take place in East Kent.

The team from EDA presented their Defeat SPECTRA game which challenges children to use the electromagnetic spectrum to crack codes. The team from SPS undertook two workshops, one on spacecraft materials and one on light

EDA’s outreach team will also exhibit at the national Big Bang event which takes place every year at the Birmingham NEC.
