A feature-length documentary by Richard Misek, lecturer in digital arts in the School of Engineering and Digital Arts premieres this week at the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival (CPH:DOX), the largest film festival in Scandinavia and one of the most prestigious documentary film festivals on the world.
Rohmer in Paris is an audio-visual love letter to legendary French new wave film-maker Eric Rohmer. Between the late 1950s and mid-2000s, Rohmer made over twenty feature films, short films, and television documentaries on location in Paris. Misek’s film explores Rohmer’s relationship with this most cinematic of cities by remixing his films and mapping his fifty year film-making journey through the city. Innovatively combining biographical documentary, essay film, speculative fiction, and mash up, Rohmer in Paris provides a narrated tour of Rohmer’s works, of modern Paris, and of how we watch films.
