BBC reports on EDA’s DocExplore technology

BBC television and online news on 3rd September featured a story about new technology co-developed by a team in the School of Engineering and Digital Arts to enable the public to access rare and valuable manuscripts usually stored in Canterbury Cathedral.

The new technology has been developed by the universities of Kent and Rouen as part of a cross-channel EU INTERREG IVa project. The DocExplore software enables digitised versions of historical documents to be explored via a touch-screen, simulating, as far as possible, the experience of accessing the physical object itself.

BBC South East Today featured an interview with Professor Michael Fairhurst and Dr Petru Radu, of EDA, as well as Cressida Williams, Canterbury Cathedral Archivist. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-23946914
