Staff award for development of hospital services

Last month East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) celebrated its 75th Anniversary and, as part of the celebrations, awards were made to staff for their contribution to the development of services within the trust. Dr Matthew Pepper, Head of Clinical and Rehabilitation Engineering, who has a joint appointment with the School of Engineering and Digital Arts, was one of four staff who received an award. This was for the development of a rehabilitation engineering service within East Kent. This service is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team including an occupational therapist, a speech and language therapist, clinical scientists and clinical engineers who work with people with physical and cognitive disabilities in the area of specialised items of equipment, posture management, specialised powered chair controls and communication and assistive technology, see www.ekhuft.nhs.uk/acat.
