At their final meeting on Monday, a group of fourth year MEng sudents were congratulated by representatives of the sponsoring company on the successful completion of their project. Dr Noel McQuade and Dr Laura Finney, from Leckey, commented that the ‘proof of concept’ project had clearly demonstrated the feasibility of incorporating posture measurement into their standing frames. Also present were Dr Mick Donegan from the charity ‘Specialeffect’, the project supervisors, and Professor Sarah Spurgeon, Head of the School of Engineering and Digital Arts (EDA).
Leckey, based in Northern Ireland, design and manufacture a range of clinically focussed, posturally supportive products. They approached staff in EDA because of their established track record in medical instrumentation. Both leckey and Specialeffect are keen to continue collaboration with the School and look forward to future projects.
