Visit by Chinese delegation

A delegation of 16 officials and academics from 11 higher education institutions in Anhui province, China visited the University of Kent and the School of Engineering and Digital Arts (EDA) on 24th March. Prof Yong Yan and Dr Gary Lu of the Instrumentation, Control and Embedded Systems Research Group within EDA welcomed the delegates at the Kent Innovation Centre.
The visit was organised by the Department of Human Resource of Anhui Provincial Government and led by Mr Liu Guangming, Deputy Director of the Department. The purpose of the visit was to study management and admissions processes, and teaching and research quality assessment in UK universities, and to explore collaboration between Kent and Chinese universities in the various areas of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes, research, and exchange of staff and students. Prof Yong Yan introduced the university to the visitors on behalf of the International Office and Dr Gary Lu gave a brief presentation on teaching and research activities in EDA. The delegates showed a great interest in co-teaching with EDA at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, and also in collaborating in bio-energy research and its applications. After the talks, the visitors toured the EDA research labs and the Canterbury campus.
