Professor Sarah Spurgeon, the Head of School, has been awarded the Honeywell International Medal for 2010 by the Institute of Measurement and Control (InstMC). The Honeywell Medal commemorates the granting of a Royal Charter to the InstMC and is awarded annually to a Chartered Measurement and Control Technologist – described in the Royal Charter as a person engaged in the discipline of Measurement and Control and who may be a scientist, engineer or a mathematician. In this context the Medal is granted to Sarah in recognition of her outstanding contribution over the years to Control Theory and Systems Engineering. The medal will be presented to Sarah at the Royal Society on 20 October.
