{"id":2300,"date":"2019-06-24T11:06:36","date_gmt":"2019-06-24T10:06:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/employabilitypoints\/?p=2300"},"modified":"2019-06-24T11:06:36","modified_gmt":"2019-06-24T10:06:36","slug":"students-attend-the-shepherd-neame-experience-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/employabilitypoints\/2019\/06\/24\/students-attend-the-shepherd-neame-experience-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Students Attend the Shepherd Neame Experience Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 11<sup>th<\/sup> June 2019, over 20 students gained the chance to visit Britain\u2019s Oldest Brewery, Shepherd Neame.<\/p>\n<p>Facilitated through the Employability Points Scheme, students gained the chance to learn about the history of the business and its current business strategy from Mark Rider, Finance and IT Director.<\/p>\n<p>Students also partook in a brewery tour, which concluded with an optional tutored beer tasting session.<\/p>\n<p>Following a pub-inspired lunch, students where split into groups; marketing and branding, scientific processes and architecture and property.<\/p>\n<p>Here, students from the School of Architecture spent time with Martin Godden, Head of Property Services, learning about the design and layout of Shepherd Neame pubs and hotels.<\/p>\n<p>Simultaneously, students from the Faculty of Sciences gained the chance to revisit the tour, which now included the chance to visit the lab and bottling plant, gaining a much greater understanding of the scientific processes involved in beer manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, students with an interest in marketing and branding attended a workshop covering brand identity. Following this, students were tasked with creating a new campaign for promoting the brand Spitefire and the concept #teamspitfire.<\/p>\n<p>This experience day was available as an EP reward, recognising students for their efforts to enhance their employability whilst studying at the University of Kent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 11th June 2019, over 20 students gained the chance to visit Britain\u2019s Oldest Brewery, Shepherd Neame.
