We had an excellent opportunity to visit COOK Food’s facility in Sittingbourne in July for a company experience day. There were a variety of activities lined up for us. We had an interesting few sessions outlining what their values were as a company and what a B Corp was. In addition to this, they outlined what charitable work they did with a variety of communities across the UK and how they support events put on by those communities. The charitable giving is a core part of their business as is how they also treat their staff. They gave us an insight into their work with the prison population and the RAW talent scheme.
Following that we were given a tour of their kitchens. This was amazing. They showed us around how they produce so many meals and how they then process it from the raw ingredients being delivered to how they are then packaged and ready to be shipped around the UK. During all of this, we were told how the process worked for each step and how they maintained quality.
They provided their own food for lunch and we were all full by the time we finished. It was great to taste the food we had been seeing for a good hour beforehand.
In the afternoon, we were part of their whole team meeting & got to hear about their procurement process and how the operations worked throughout the company, which considering the size of the company was fascinating to learn about.
Another fun experience they had lined up for us was their tasting panel. We all got to taste some of the meals which had been produced along with other individuals from the company to check for quality and they had prepared some excellent dishes for us. We got to try them and enjoy the meals which were being quality controlled.
Seeing all of the processes at COOK Food was a fantastic experience! Well worth going to!
