Are you interested in supporting neurodiverse young people? This volunteer opportunity is for you!

ND Harbour is a charity which looks to support neurodivergent people and their families in Kent through events, peer support groups, and youth clubs. They’re a Kent Charity Awards Finalist 2025 and have an excellent vision, ethos and goals using lived experience, scientific evidence and clinical experience to inform what they do.

Earn Employability Points and do excellent work supporting neurodiverse young people!

 

Youth Support Volunteer (x 2)

Time required: 2 hours per week (term time), Fridays 3:30-5:30pm (approximate), Thanington Resource Centre

Role description: Working in a team of three to four to support and engage a group of neurodivergent young people (aged 12-17) in a variety of activities including games and crafts.

Requirements: lived experience of neurodivergence preferred; must be confident working with young people to help facilitate social activities; good knowledge of variety of neurodivergent profiles including PDA preferred

Additional info: Please note that volunteer roles are only for adults 18+. We follow safer recruitment processes to keep everyone safe. This includes referencing, DBS checks, and interviews.

 

Activity and Craft Facilitator

Time required: 10-12 Friday mornings at Canterbury Umbrella (adult group), and/or 3:30-5:30 Friday afternoons at Thanington Resource Centre (teen group). Some additional time required between sessions for planning.

Role description: To plan and facilitate fun activities for our adult social group, Harbour Hangout, and our new group for neurodivergent teenagers. Activities might be craft based or other activities (e.g. board games). Activities are to be designed within budget and health and safety constraints.

Requirements: confident to lead activities with teens and/or adults; creative mindset; clear communicator; lived experience of neurodivergence preferred.
