The ICCI is fairly new to the EP Scheme, so we were keen to hear from Eileen Hartney, Liaison and Engagement Officer, about her experience with us.
The Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries (iCCi) is a National Portfolio Organisation with Arts Council England and members of the Creative Industries Federation and Immerse UK. Passionate about celebrating all aspects of creativity, they are home to a diverse community of academics, art professionals, students and business leaders who believe that creativity can change the world.
Misty Robson is an English student who used her employability points to secure a work experience reward with the iCCi which ran for two weeks in July.
Eileen was inspired to get involved with the EP Scheme as the Institute are keen to find new ways to connect with students and provide valuable opportunities for them. According to Eileen, Misty’s placement was very successful, especially as she joined at a very busy time for the iCCi:
“Misty’s placement took place during a busy time for the institute as we are planning a Year in programme to launch 2022. Misty supported a focus group which we ran during her first week with us, involving around 12 students from across the University. Misty’s input into our planning was highly valuable.”
Misty’s maturity and clear career focus particularly impressed Eileen and her team during the placement and the iCCi are looking forward to being involved with EP this academic year and providing more work opportunities.
“Misty has a clear focus about her career and the areas she would like to work in and she has selected work experience and other extra curricular opportunities throughout her time at the University with specific career goals in mind.”
