A keen member of various societies, including being Captain of the University of Kent Esports, alongside completing the Careers Award and attending many skills workshops, all added up to Luke earning 230 Employability Points in his first academic year. These points were used to apply for, and subsequently secure, an exciting reward as part of the team putting together the massive Fragers Gaming and Creative Festival recently held at the Historic Dockyard in Chatham.
Luke was able to get involved with organising schedules and managing tournaments and part of the event space – “It was definitely an enjoyable experience working during the event and certainly gave what I would say is very valuable experience of the stress, changing circumstances and difficulties associated with events management work.”
In terms of the impact Luke believes this opportunity had on his skill development, he commented:
“Primarily the experience helped me develop personal responsibility, organisation skills, working in groups and working under pressure. It was also good for experiencing things such as dealing with customers along with all other aspects associated with management and events.”
Fragers Ltd generously provided four work experience opportunities assisting with the Festival – more information about them and all they offer can be found here.
