Studying Computer Science and looking for a summer placement?

The Employability Points team have been working hard to secure a selection of work placements and internships, exclusively available to students engaging with the Employability Points Scheme!

We are delighted to confirm the latest paid internships, suited for students studying in the School of Computing:

SARD: Based in Canterbury, SARD are responsible for providing software products to customers, which cover Medical Revalidation, eLeave, Apprasial for All and much more! Exclusively for EP students (with 200 points or more), SARD are offering an internship focusing on technical support, programming and updating their system. If you are interested in AI, programming and technical development, this is the perfect paid internship!

The Wonderful Creative Agency: Situated in Maidstone, Kent, the Wonderful Creative Agency provide digital solutions to fast growing start-up businesses and global brands. Wonderful are also offering an exclusive paid internship (200 points or more required), which will allow a student to work as a Website Developer. The student will be building open source websites, microsites, landing pages and HTML email for their clients.

Shepherd Neame: As Britain’s Oldest Brewer, Shepherd Neame are responsible for producing products such as Spitfire Ale, Bishop’s Finger and Bear Island, in addition to operating over 300 pubs and hotels across London and the Southeast! For 200 points, one student will have the chance to intern in the IT department, which will involve problem-solving, rebuilding computers, call management processes and much more.

Reflect Digital: Currently in the headlines for being the first company in Kent to implement a 4-day working week, Reflect Digital are a locally renowned digital marketing agency! They will be offering a ‘super geek’ internship, which will cover web development and design. Ultimately, if you are passionate about code and digital, make sure you have 200 points to apply!

 

If you don’t fancy undertaking a full summer internship, we also have short-term 2-week opportunities (unpaid) which cost students 150 points. These include:

Convert Energy: Opportunity to investigate the development of a web based technology selector for customers.

Brett Group: Chance to gain experience of project management in an IT department.

Arcade: Placements in London focused on user experience design, augmented reality and coding.

Medway Council: A chance to work on the development of the Council’s intranet pages.

Yoyo Design: Chance to gain experience with web design, working with global brands.

 

So, as you can see, the EP Scheme has plenty of opportunities for School of Computing students and to benefit, you must:

  1. Ensure you log all your co-curricular activities on MyFolio by 18th March 2019 (17:00)
  2. If you have earned sufficient points by this deadline, you will receive an application form shortly afterwards.
  3. Once this has been submitted, your application will be reviewed and if suitable, you will be invited to attend an interview in May (Canterbury campus).
  4. Once interviews have been completed, if you are successful, your reward will commence from June 2019 onwards.
