If you are considering a career in the third sector, you might be surprised at the diverse range of opportunities available. Charity and voluntary work is more than fundraising and many charities seek those skilled in administration, finance, HR, IT, retail or marketing.
The Employability Points Scheme are pleased to say that we have a range of rewards specifically tailored to those interested in gaining experience in the Charity Sector. We have opportunities which help build on a variety of skills relevant to the sector.
- Events
If it is the event fundraising and organising which interests you, People United are offering a two week placement focused on this. People United are an innovative charity who explore how the arts and creativity can grow kindness, empathy and a sense of common humanity.
- Marketing and Photography
Kent Enterprise Trust are another local charity offering great opportunities, including several four week work experience placement (two days per week), where students can take on roles in marketing, photography or as an environmental advocate.
- Administration
YouCan are a charity that supports young people who have been impacted by cancer in some way. They are offering two work experience placements including administration, including social media and marketing.
- Fundraising Project
If you would like experience seeing a campaign project through to completion, the internship with Brainstrust would be perfect. They are seeking a student to support on the ‘Wear Grey for a Day’ campaign. The intern would help to complete a fundraising pack, as well as work with social media, web pages and an online shop.
- Management and Retail
Nucleus Arts are providing experiences in Management, Community Outreach and Retail. They are also running a Company Experience which includes a workshop on creative careers.
Charity work is a way to gain valuable and varied skills, while also making a real difference to a cause.
