James, in collaboration with the School of Psychology, has developed a smartphone application called SnapAppy which functions as a digital positivity diary. Users can log positive moments, events or experiences during their day with a photo and description. This encourages users to think positively and reduce focus on the negative aspects of life.
This research could have major benefits for people suffering from mental health disorders including depression and anxiety and for people who have regular low moods, pessimistic tendencies and general negative attitudes.
