{"id":62,"date":"2021-09-21T16:57:05","date_gmt":"2021-09-21T15:57:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/eda-library-guide\/?page_id=62"},"modified":"2024-06-24T09:29:47","modified_gmt":"2024-06-24T08:29:47","slug":"researching-assignments","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/eda-library-guide\/researching-assignments\/","title":{"rendered":"Finding journal articles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For some assignments or a dissertation, you will need to go beyond your reading list and do your own independent research.<\/p>\n<h5>Search by topic area<\/h5>\n<p>The easiest way to find journal articles is to type a few keywords for your topic in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/librarysearch.kent.ac.uk\/\">LibrarySearch.\u00a0<\/a>If we subscribe to it in print or digital format a link will be provided to help you find it.<\/p>\n<h5>Find a specific article<\/h5>\n<p>If you have a specific journal article you are looking for you can use <a href=\"https:\/\/scholar.google.co.uk\/\">Google Scholar.<\/a>\u00a0 This will show you if it is freely available elsewhere and you can also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/guides\/find-and-access-library-e-resources#if-you-find-resources-on-the-web\">set your browser to link to any content we subscribe to<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5>Browse a journal series<\/h5>\n<p>To check if the Library has access to a particular e-journal title, or to browse journals, use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/browzine.com\/libraries\/2919\/subjects?sort=title\">find e journal title<\/a> function or you can go directly to ejournals for your subject via the buttons on the right hand menu on this page.<\/p>\n<p>The Library also subscribes to a number of\u00a0 databases\u00a0 that will help you to find\u00a0 journal articles and more on your chosen topic.<\/p>\n<h4>General indexes:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/chain.kent.ac.uk\/login?url=http:\/\/apps.webofknowledge.com\/WOS_GeneralSearch_input.do?highlighted_tab=WOS&amp;product=WOS&amp;search_mode=GeneralSearch\">Web of Science\u00a0<\/a>\u2013 large database providing full text and abstracts (article summaries) for peer-reviewed literature.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/chain.kent.ac.uk\/login?url=https:\/\/www.scopus.com\">Scopus\u00a0<\/a>\u2013 multi-disciplinary database providing full text and abstracts (article summaries) for peer-reviewed literature.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/scholar.google.co.uk\/\">GoogleScholar<\/a>\u00a0 &#8211; is a popular search engine to look for academic material including journal articles and books.
