The first edition of the book, which was entitled <i>Growth and Development: with\u00a0Special Reference to Developing Countries, <\/i>was published in 1972 based on Tony&#8217;s lectures to undergraduate and graduate students. It is used widely across the world, particularly in India, and there are Greek and Chinese translations of previous editions.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a010th edition has an important new chapter on Human Capital: education; the role of women in the development process, nutrition and health.
