{"id":824,"date":"2016-05-23T16:17:47","date_gmt":"2016-05-23T15:17:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/?p=824"},"modified":"2020-03-17T12:20:53","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T12:20:53","slug":"brussels-summer-school-scholarship-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/2016\/05\/23\/brussels-summer-school-scholarship-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Brussels Summer School scholarship success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Economics student, Ali Ahmed, is one of 10 students to have been awarded a scholarship to the\u00a0University&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/summerschools\/europe\/index.html\">Brussels Summer School<\/a>.\u00a0Ali, a second-year student, was selected from almost\u00a0200 applicants due to his\u00a0strong motivation and academic excellence.<\/p>\n<p>The Brussels Summer School is centred on the theme of \u2018Europe and the World\u2019 and covers themes such as migration, the European Union\u2019s (EU) relationship with emerging powers such as China, and the EU\u2019s response to the global economic crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Over a period of two weeks, students participate in a series of guest lectures, seminars and debates delivered by academics, policy-makers, diplomats and European civil servants. The summer school allows students to discover how the European Union functions with a particular focus on how it acts as a global organisation and the challenges it faces in today\u2019s world.<\/p>\n<p>Many congratulations, Ali, from the\u00a0School of Economics!
