{"id":642,"date":"2015-09-01T11:18:41","date_gmt":"2015-09-01T10:18:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/?p=642"},"modified":"2020-03-17T12:16:25","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T12:16:25","slug":"training-course-for-a-level-economics-teachers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/2015\/09\/01\/training-course-for-a-level-economics-teachers\/","title":{"rendered":"Training course for A level Economics teachers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Macroeconomics, Growth and History Centre (MaGHiC) is holding a\u00a0training course\u00a0on 14 December 2015 (10.00-16.00) for A level Economics\u00a0teachers to provide\u00a0key knowledge from the\u00a0latest research into\u00a0the 2007\/2008 financial crisis. The sessions are designed to be beneficial in teaching the new topics introduced by examination boards starting in September 2015. Participants are expected to have some background in economics at\u00a0University level, but otherwise there are\u00a0no prerequisites.<\/p>\n<p>The course is divided into three sessions. The morning session will discuss the evolution of macroeconomic theory over time and review the Great Recession. The lunch session will introduce our approach towards teaching Economics at the University of Kent, while the\u00a0afternoon session will cover economic policy issues and a historical comparison between the 2007\/2008 crisis and the Great Depression of the 1930s. Each session will be structured as\u00a0a presentation followed by discussion.
