Dr Pen\u00e9lope Pacheco-L\u00f3pez in particular presented research on the widening economic inequality between Mexico&#8217;s Northern and Southern regions, particularly since the 1990s.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/files\/2024\/12\/PennyPanel.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6019\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/files\/2024\/12\/PennyPanel.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The panel discussion highlighted the importance of addressing this divergence in growth and the role of industrial policy in promoting balanced development across Mexico. As a panelist, Dr Pen\u00e9lope Pacheco-L\u00f3pez emphasised the need for targeted strategies to support the Southern states, such as encouraging foreign direct investment, fostering innovation, and improving local infrastructure and workforce development.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt was a great opportunity to present and discuss robust academic research on economic development from alternative perspectives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr Pen\u00e9lope Pacheco-L\u00f3pez<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/files\/2024\/12\/Certificate.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6021\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/files\/2024\/12\/Certificate.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"424\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The event provided an excellent platform for Dr. Pacheco-Lopez and other experts to engage in meaningful dialogue, exploring various perspectives on the challenges and potential solutions for achieving inclusive economic growth in Mexico.
