{"id":518,"date":"2015-04-02T11:42:57","date_gmt":"2015-04-02T10:42:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/?p=518"},"modified":"2020-03-17T12:23:57","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T12:23:57","slug":"tempest-tossed-data-show-conferences-impact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/2015\/04\/02\/tempest-tossed-data-show-conferences-impact\/","title":{"rendered":"Tempest-tossed data show conferences\u2019 impact"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Times Higher Education (THE)\u00a0 <\/em>has published an article on recent research conducted by School of Economics lecturer, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/staff\/profiles\/fernanda-leite-lopez-de-leon.html\">Dr Fernanda Lopez de Leon<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uea.ac.uk\/economics\/people\/profile\/b-mcquillin\">Dr Ben McQuillin<\/a> of the University of East\u00a0Anglia.<\/p>\n<p>The research paper, titled\u00a0&#8220;The role of conferences on the pathway to academic impact: evidence from a natural experiment&#8221;, October 2014,\u00a0provides evidence for the role of conferences in generating visibility for academic work, using a &#8216;natural experiment&#8217;: the last-minute cancellation &#8211; due to &#8216;Hurricane Isaac&#8217; &#8211; of the 2012 American Political Science Association (APSA) Annual Meeting.
