The awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding extracurricular contribution students make to the Kent student experience.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0winners will be announced at a Gala Dinner this Friday, 8 May, and one of the winners from the 13 categories\u00a0will receive the additional honour\u00a0of being named &#8216;Student of the Year&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The School would like to congratulate all of those students who\u00a0have been shortlisted and wish them the very best of luck for Friday!<\/p>\n<p>The Economics students are as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Category: Outstanding Student Entrepreneur of the Year<\/strong><br \/>\nDisha Bansal, a final-year student, for her award-winning and innovative business concept,\u00a0<em>Assero<\/em>, which aims to reduce micro-finance fraud in India.<\/p>\n<p>This award recognises an individual or team who have demonstrated passion, vision, drive and real personal growth as a result of running a business while studying at the University.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Category: Outstanding Fundraiser of the Year<\/strong><br \/>\nFazal Gulzar, a final-year student, for\u00a0transforming the fundraising society,\u00a0<em>Kent RaG<\/em>, through his strong leadership and passion.<\/p>\n<p>This award recognises students who generously devote their time to fundraising, making a real difference for their societies or organisations in the local community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Category: Outstanding Contribution to the 50th Anniversary<\/strong><br \/>\nCampus2Campus runners:\u00a0a group of students including Anh Tran, an MSc student, for running over 200 miles from Canterbury to Paris and raising over \u00a36,000 for charity in the University&#8217;s 50th year.<\/p>\n<p>This award recognises those students who have made an exceptional contribution to celebrating Kent\u2019s 50th anniversary by organising something outstanding either as an individual or as a group.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three\u00a0Economics students have been shortlisted for the Kent Student Awards this year, selected\u00a0from over 200 nominees.
