The Economics Society Wins Academic Society of the Year for the third year running."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">This past Monday, April 4th, the Economics Society won the best Academic Society of the Year award at Kent Union\u2019s Activities Awards! This is their third time winning this award, with the first time being in 2020.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We\u2019d like to extend our congratulations to the society for their well-deserved win for the excellent work they do for our academic community. From their weekly events filled with employability, to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/2022\/03\/17\/teconomics-the-future-of-ai-automation\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">their annual flagship summit event<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, we couldn\u2019t think of a better society to win it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/2020\/04\/21\/the-economics-society-wins-kent-unions-academic-society-of-the-year\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">They scooped this award in 2020<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and 2021, and this isn\u2019t the only award they\u2019ve won either\u2013\u2013they\u2019ve also taken home the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/2020\/07\/22\/the-award-winning-kent-economics-society-scoops-another-award\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Outstanding Contribution to Academic Communities<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> award in the past. The President of the society, Aliye Osman, was also nominated for the Lasting Impact award for her contributions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt was an amazing night to celebrate students that put in hard work year-round to make Kent societies what they are!\u201d said Aliye Osman.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The society, along with the other nominees of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/kentunion.co.uk\/news\/article\/team-kent-ball-activities-awards-2022-nominations\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the awards<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, were treated to a fun night of games like music bingo and heads and tails, a chocolate fountain and doughnut wall, and a two-course meal to celebrate their achievements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thank you again to all of the students who put in long hours of volunteering and work to make the society run smoothly, and to the Union for putting on the awards!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This past Monday, April 4th, the Economics Society won the best Academic Society of the Year award at Kent Union\u2019s Activities Awards!
