{"id":1387,"date":"2018-07-25T12:13:15","date_gmt":"2018-07-25T11:13:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/?p=1387"},"modified":"2020-03-17T12:12:10","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T12:12:10","slug":"topping-out-ceremony-for-new-economics-building","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/economics\/2018\/07\/25\/topping-out-ceremony-for-new-economics-building\/","title":{"rendered":"Topping out ceremony for new Economics building"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A new building to house the University&#8217;s School of Economics has been \u2018topped out\u2019 by Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Karen Cox.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>She was joined in the ceremony, which took place on 23 July on the roof of the new building, by Roger Forsdyke, Managing Director of project contractor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.willmottdixon.co.uk\/\">Willmott Dixon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Guests from the University and Willmott Dixon watched as the pair wrote \u2018good luck\u2019 messages on a wooden plinth to mark the traditional point when a new building reaches its maximum height.<\/p>\n<p>The new L-shaped building, located at the Canterbury campus, will house the whole of the School of Economics, together with some other teaching rooms.<\/p>\n<p>The new building is planned to be ready for the start of the 2019-20 academic year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/news\/kentlife\/18822\/topping-out-ceremony-for-new-economics-building\">Article by Martin Herrema,\u00a0Kent\u00a0News\u00a0Site<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new building to house the University&#8217;s School of Economics has been \u2018topped out\u2019 by Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Karen Cox.
