Happy New Year from everyone here at the School of Economics!

We caught up with Victoria Ng Wan Ying, a final year economics student, who has been telling us all about the exciting events that took place during the Autumn term by the Economics Society:

“The society has organised a good mix of academic and social events during the term.

We kicked off the term with a movie night, followed by a quiz night, a year-in-industry panel and speaker from JPM, a CMA recruitment talk and ended off with a pub quiz.”

The film night included a screening of The Big Short (2015), a film that exposes the 2008 financial crisis through eccentric characters predicting, profiting, and exposing the housing market collapse.

“We’ve also posted our first TikTok video and sent out newsletters that contain information on internships and a research piece to society members.”
