We were so proud to see so many of our staff recognised by students at Kent Union’s Above and Beyond event this month.
The Above and Beyond Awards were launched by Kent Union to celebrate outstanding members of staff, both academic and non-academic. Students nominate staff who they believe have gone the extra mile in their role.
After a two year hiatus, due to the global pandemic, the event held to celebrate these staff was a bumper crop, with staff who had been nominated since 2020 in attendance.
Dr Oleana Nizalova, Yannis Galanakis, Guillermo Cabaillas-Jiménez, Dr Sylvain Barde and Moatazbellah Farid pictured here, were all proud recipients, winning the very covetable Above and Beyond red mug.
‘Many thanks to my Econometrics students for nominating me.’ Nizalova responded, also praising the Graduate Teaching Assistant’s nominated, as the ‘rising stars’ of economics teaching.
‘I’m very happy to work with an amazing group of students eager to learn and ask questions about different theories and models.’ Galanakis told us, ‘I’m so glad they valued my input to their journey!’
Nominees from the school are as follows: Antonio Haro Banon, Dr Amrit Amriapu, Professor Iain Fraser, Dr Andrey Launov, Dr Adelina Gschwandtner, Dr Alfred Duncan, Dr Christian Siegel, Dr Zaki Wahhaj, Dr Mathan Satchi, Dr Nizar Allouch, Dr Wei Jiang, Dr Katsuyuki Shibayama and with a whopping eight nominations, Maliha Rahanaz.
Congratulations to all of them!
If you know a member of staff who has gone above and beyond for students, you can nominate them here.
