We are excited to announce that Hannah Chaplin, Deputy Director of EU Exit and Trade Analysis at the BEIS (Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy), has agreed to run some drop in sessions for our Economic students on Friday 27 September.
Hannah started her Civil Service career at the Welsh Assembly Government before moving to the Department for Trade and Industry to work on the Single Market. She then spent four years in UK Trade and Investment leading its economic research programme, followed by five years at UK Government Investments where she, among other things, provided economic advice on a number of projects including the setting up of the Green Investment Bank, the sale of Royal Mail and Student Loans before moving to Defra in 2017.
Hannah did her first degree in Agricultural Sciences at Nottingham University before gaining a Master’s in Agribusiness Management from Wye College. Following a PhD in Agricultural Economics at Imperial College she went to Trinity College Dublin where she worked on a research project on coherence between agricultural and development policy.
This is a great opportunity for Stage 2 students who are interested in applying for the GES placement scheme, and for Stage 3/Master’s students who are unsure whether the GES (Government Economic Service) is for them, are interested in what graduate roles might be suitable for them or would like to discuss the GES Fast Stream scheme.
