We do this through our support of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/guides\/reading-list-support-for-academic-staff\/diversify-your-reading-list#diversity-mark-award\">Diversity Mark award<\/a>\u00a0at Kent and also encourage students to see themselves on the shelves through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/library\/support\/forms\/purchase\/book.html\">resource recommendations\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/isnews\/?s=diversity\">library events<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Discovering content that comes from an author of a marginalised group or represents diverse perspectives can be problematic and make the work seem overwhelming. We aim with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/diversitymarktoolkit\/\">Diversity Mark toolkit<\/a>, to support academics that are prioritising this through their reading lists.<\/p>\n<p>We are also pleased to highlight a number of collections we are making available to you this year to help find relevant content. These are part of a\u00a0<strong>You Read, We Buy<\/strong>\u00a0scheme until June 2022. After which we will select the most popular titles\u00a0 to add to our permanent collections.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/isnews\/19712-2\/\">African Diaspora\u00a0<\/a>covers communities of African descent within the Caribbean, Brazil, India, United Kingdom, and France.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/isnews\/african-american-music-reference-until-june-2022\/\">African American music reference<\/a>\u00a0includes all\u00a0 forms of black American musical expression.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/isnews\/black-abolitionist-papers-until-june-2022\/\">Black abolitionist papers<\/a>\u00a0covers the extensive work of African Americans to abolish slavery in the United States prior to the Civil War.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/isnews\/diversity-collection-from-proquest\/\">Diversity DDA<\/a>\u00a0over 150 ebooks from diverse authors or perspectives<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/hv-proquest-com.chain.kent.ac.uk\/historyvault\/hv.jsp?pageid=home\">History Vault<\/a>\u00a0provides a range of archival material from American history including the Black freedom struggle of the 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/isnews\/lgbt-thought-and-culture-until-june-2022\/\">LGBT thought and culture<\/a>\u00a0provides books, periodicals, and archival materials documenting LGBT political, social and cultural movements.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/isnews\/newspaper-and-magazine-archive-available-until-june-2022\/\">Newspaper and Magazine Archive<\/a>\u00a0provides access to News, Policy and Politics Magazine Archive, Religious Magazine Archive, Women Magazine Archive and Leftist Historical Newspaper.
