The School&#8217;s very own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-digital-arts\/people\/623\/batchelor-john\">Professor John Batchelo<\/a>r will be delivering the lecture, entitled &#8220;Electronic sensing with (almost) no batteries&#8221; on Wednesday 20 November from 6 \u2013 7 pm in JLT. The lecture, sponsored by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), will focus on how a simple RFID tag can be converted into a sensing system, and how it can work with (almost) no battery at all.<\/p>\n<p>You can book your place now on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/electronic-sensing-with-almost-no-batteries-tickets-74941948385\">Eventbrite<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The second lecture in the series will come from The School of Physical Sciences in December before the programme continues in the New Year, with lectures on a range of topics and from across the STEM Schools at the University of Kent:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>December: School of Physical Sciences &#8211; Celebrating the Year of the Periodic Table and the Chemistry behind the Nobel Prize winner<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>January: School of Computing &#8211; &#8220;Promoting critical thinking with data&#8221; by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cs.kent.ac.uk\/people\/staff\/tp343\/\">Dr Tomas Petricek<\/a>.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>February: School of Computing &#8211; &#8220;Will a Robot take my Job?
