Four of the nine\u00a0are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?client=internal-element-cse&amp;cx=009308759663521761724:esrvl6i_3t0&amp;q=https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/alumni&amp;sa=U&amp;ved=2ahUKEwixgZeMxaf2AhWWQUEAHfJFCtwQFnoECAQQAQ&amp;usg=AOvVaw2IBCp1wX35vyk-2NK260cV\">Kent alumni<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Among those to receive awards will be athlete Dina Asher-Smith, and comedian, writer and activist Mark Thomas.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/congregations\/ceremony-dates\">ceremonies<\/a>, which are the first to be held in person since 2019, will take place at Rochester on 22 March, and Canterbury 28 March to 1 April. All ceremonies will celebrate those students who graduated in July or November 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The March honorary graduands are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Dalia Halpern-Matthews FRSA<\/strong>, who will be made a Doctor of Arts in recognition of her exceptional contribution to public life, the arts and creativity (Rochester 22 March)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Dina Asher-Smith<\/strong>, who will be made a Doctor of the University for her exceptional and inspirational athletic career (Rochester 22 March)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kent alumna\u00a0<strong>Dr Nike Folayan<\/strong>, who will be made a Doctor of Science in recognition of her inspirational career and her pioneering work with the Association for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers (Canterbury 28 March)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Professor Richard Hodges OBE<\/strong>, who will be made a Doctor of Letters for his distinguished and significant contribution to archaeology (Canterbury 28 March)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ptolemy Dean OBE<\/strong>, who will be made a Doctor of Arts for his significant contribution to architecture, conservation and heritage (Canterbury 29 March)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kent alumnus\u00a0<strong>Daniel Rubin<\/strong>, who will be made a Doctor of the University for his inspirational and distinguished career in business (Canterbury 30 March)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mark Thomas<\/strong>, who will be made a Doctor of Letters for his unique contribution to British comedy and politics (Canterbury 30 March)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kent alumnus\u00a0<strong>Joe Egan<\/strong>, who will be made a Doctor of Laws in recognition of his significant contribution to the legal profession and to the Law Society (Canterbury 31 March)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kent alumnus\u00a0<strong>Keith Teare<\/strong>, who will be made a Doctor of the University in recognition of his inspirational career as a serial entrepreneur (Canterbury 1 April)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Full\u00a0biographies are available\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/static.kent.ac.uk\/media\/news\/2022\/03\/Kent-Honorary-Graduates-March-2022.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_31187\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-31187\" src=\"https:\/\/static.kent.ac.uk\/media\/news\/2022\/03\/1X8A1592-300x200.jpg\" width=\"620\" height=\"414\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dina Asher-Smith receiving award from Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof Richard Reeves<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kent is looking forward to awarding honorary degrees to nine inspirational people during its forthcoming celebration ceremonies at Canterbury and Rochester cathedrals.
