{"id":827,"date":"2026-02-11T11:16:32","date_gmt":"2026-02-11T11:16:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/dice\/?p=827"},"modified":"2026-02-11T11:16:50","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T11:16:50","slug":"spatial-nature-planning-forum-2026-to-convene-national-and-international-experts-at-the-university-of-kent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/dice\/2026\/02\/11\/spatial-nature-planning-forum-2026-to-convene-national-and-international-experts-at-the-university-of-kent\/","title":{"rendered":"Spatial Nature Planning Forum 2026 to\u00a0Convene\u00a0National and International Experts\u00a0at\u00a0the University of Kent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">The\u00a0Spatial Nature Planning (SNaP) Forum\u00a0will return to the University of Kent, Canterbury, from\u00a024\u201326 March 2026, bringing together researchers,\u00a0practitioners\u00a0and policymakers to advance the role of systematic conservation planning\u00a0in England.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Systematic conservation planning\u00a0is a well-established approach used internationally to guide conservation and restoration.\u00a0It\u00a0enables\u00a0ecological and\u00a0socio-economic data\u00a0to be combined\u00a0with\u00a0stakeholder priorities to\u00a0identify\u00a0where nature recovery actions can\u00a0most efficiently\u00a0deliver impact.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Building on the success of the inaugural Forum in\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/dice-systematic-conservation-planning\/snap\/snap-forum-2025\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">2025<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the 2026 event will support the continued development of the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/dice-systematic-conservation-planning\/snap\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">SNaP Community<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0in England. This is\u00a0a growing community of practice focused on sharing experience and\u00a0expertise\u00a0to strengthen evidence-based spatial planning\u00a0for nature.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Supported by funding from the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/sharing-space-for-nature\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">E3 Sharing Space for Nature<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0initiative, the Forum\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">will feature\u00a0a range of\u00a0talks<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0on 24 March, including\u00a0on\u00a0international best practice in SCP, examples of its application in England, and discussion of how\u00a0it\u00a0can support national policy priorities for nature recovery.
