{"id":904,"date":"2014-12-04T10:54:47","date_gmt":"2014-12-04T10:54:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/?p=904"},"modified":"2014-12-04T10:57:06","modified_gmt":"2014-12-04T10:57:06","slug":"universitys-careers-and-employability-service-short-listed-for-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/2014\/12\/04\/universitys-careers-and-employability-service-short-listed-for-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"University\u2019s Careers and Employability Service short-listed for awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/ces\/index.html\">Careers and Employability Service<\/a> (CES) has been short-listed for two National Undergraduate Employability (NUE) Awards for the support it offers to Kent students.<\/p>\n<p>Kent alumnus James Corbin (Eliot 2000), who works as Placement Development and Employability Manager in CES, has been short-listed for the\u00a0\u2018Outstanding Contribution to Work Experience\u2019 award, which\u00a0recognises the contribution made by an individual in supporting students in accessing work placement opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>The Service, which provides careers advice and support to Kent students and also to alumni who have graduated in the last 3 years, has also been short-listed for \u2018Most Improved Commitment to Employability\u2019, which\u00a0celebrates improved efforts and services provided by a university department in supporting students and helping them to maximise their work experience opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>The NUE received more than 400 nominations for the awards, which were short-listed and judged by graduate recruiters, sectors peers and industry experts.<\/p>\n<p>The award winners will be announced at the NUE Awards annual ceremony to be held on Friday 6 February 2015 in London.<\/p>\n<p>All alumni who have graduated from Kent in the last three years are entitled to free advice from CES. The Service also runs <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/ces\/student\/kew-net.html\">KEW-NET<\/a>, an online networking\/mentoring platform available to all students and alumni, enabling them to connect and offer each other careers advice and job opportunities.
