{"id":4888,"date":"2024-06-27T10:19:46","date_gmt":"2024-06-27T09:19:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/?p=4888"},"modified":"2024-06-27T10:19:46","modified_gmt":"2024-06-27T09:19:46","slug":"alumni-recognised-in-the-kings-birthday-honours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/development\/2024\/06\/27\/alumni-recognised-in-the-kings-birthday-honours\/","title":{"rendered":"Alumni recognised in the King&#8217;s Birthday Honours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members of the University of Kent community have been recognised in the King\u2019s 2024 Birthday Honours List.<\/p>\n<p>Those honoured include Kent alumni with honorary degrees:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tracey Karima Emin CBE (Honorary Doctor of Letters, 2007)<\/strong> was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to Art.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Rt Hon Terence Michael Elkan Barnet Etherton KC (Honorary Doctor of Laws, 2018)<\/strong> was appointed Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire for services to LGBT Veterans.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Several University alumni have also been recognised, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tab Ahmad (<\/strong><strong>BA Accounting and Economics, 1984), <\/strong>who was awarded a CBE for services to Inclusive Access to Employment for Neurodivergent and Disabled Young People.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tina Janet Lovey (BSc Social Science, 2004)<\/strong> who was awarded a CBE for services to Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tariq Mahmood (<\/strong><strong>Pcert Supplementary Prescribing, 2007) <\/strong>who was awarded an MBE for services to charity and to Interfaith Relations. He is the Founder of Feed the Needy and Vice Chair of Havering Inter Faith Forum.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dr Amrik Singh Mahal (BSc Chemistry, 1985 and PhD Chemistry, 1988) <\/strong>who was awarded a BEM for services to Science and the Covid-19 Response.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Members of the University of Kent community have been recognised in the King\u2019s 2024 Birthday Honours List.
